High School Volunteer Opportunities

The Irving Symphony is committed to music education and its aspiration to engage next generations to experience, appreciate and participate in making great music.  More than 6,000 diverse students are served annually through the symphony orchestra’s youth concerts.

The ISO collaborates with the Irving Independent School District and other schools in the region to produce a variety of education initiatives.  Among them are the annual “CONCERTS4KIDS,” and the theme of this year’s concert sponsored by the Stemmons Foundation is “The Joy of Music: Mozart, Beethoven...and Coco!”

Each year the ISO produces free concerts designed to engage, educate and inspire students in the Irving Independent School District, representing more than 6,000 young hearts and minds.

These remarkable thematic concerts combine live symphonic masterworks and recent film score selections with artfully choreographed and projected local student artwork fitting each year’s theme.  For almost 30 years, the orchestra has served more than 172,000 students in free performances.

Ovation Program
The Irving Symphony is excited again this year to offer a special program called “OVATION” for students between grades 9-12 who would like to volunteer. At each concert, Ovation members help the Symphony with patron relations by distributing concert programs; collecting tickets; greeting and showing patrons their seats.
We’re delighted to provide them recognition in our program as well as participation in lectures and demonstrations with orchestra musicians, free attendance at concerts and additional complimentary tickets for family or friends. The students receive community service hours from the ISO that are required for their graduation as honor students. What more enjoyable way to obtain community service than listening to orchestra music?!
